More Than Half of the Houses in Turkey Have No Insurance

In Turkey, there are still 9 million 260 thousand 510 houses do not have the in Turkey still do not TCIP policy. 9 million 260 thousand 510 of the total 17 million 661 thousand 690 houses which are in the scope of compulsory earthquake insurance still do not meet the TCIP policy standards. 


Turkey Has Faced Many Earthquakes

These numbers remind us of the Earthquakes Turkey faced, in 1999 only there were 8 bin 699 earthquakes include 17 August earthquake which still has a place in memories that killed 17 thousand 480 people. Also, the highest number of the last 30 years record was reached in 2017 where  34 thousand 9 earthquakes happened, and in the first 3 months of 2018 6 thousand earthquakes experienced. 

Number of Earthquakes Rising

Despite the fact of increasing earthquakes in İstanbul, still, 52,4 percent do not have DASK policy which is needed and could so easily be bought via the internet. 
In Istanbul, 1 million 576 thousand 452 dwellings do not have DASK.
At least a 7.2 magnitude earthquake is expected in Istanbul City. Still, the number of houses which do not meet the requirements shows the size of the danger. By the way, the expected Istanbul Earthquake will affect the cities like Kocaeli, Bursa, and Bilecik. 

The Percentage of Houses with Insurance in  Marmara Region is 42.4 

In Marmara Region, the rate of the houses without insurance is 42,4 percent, in Aegean Region 53,9 percent, in Black Sea Region 60.3 percent. The city with the highest insured rate is  Düzce with 91.40 percent, and the city with the lowest insured rate is Şırnak with 8 percent. Among the insured 8,4 million houses the 83,59 percent consist of 1 or 7 floored buildings and also the buildings that made 1975 and before has the minimum insured rate as 4,84 percent.
