Revision plan of the Halic – Unkapani Underwater Road Tunnel Passing Project has been brought into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council.
Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Kadir Topbas’s project, which he names as his masterpiece, Halic – Unkapani Underwater Road Tunnel Passing Project Plan has been brought into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council for discussion. There will be no objection for the project, if the plan is accepted.
An important step has been taken for Mayor Kadir Topbas’s project, which he named as his masterpiece in his speech before mayoral elections in 2014. In this way, another big step has been taken for the project, which has been being planned for a long time.
Council Will Make a Call
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Planning Director’s proposal about some changes in the project has been discussed in the meeting of Transport and Public Works Commissions. Commissions have prepared a concurrent report. The report, which CHP has come up against, has been accepted by a large majority and has been sent to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council. Council will discuss and make a decision about the proposal.
The Unkapani Bridge Will be History
The new project, which will make The Unkapani Bridge, which was constructed in 1836, a history, is planned to be completed by 2018. 100 million Turkish Liras have been allocated from the Metropolitan Municipality’s budget for the project. The traffic in both sides of Halic will be transferred to the tunnel which will be underwater. One side of the tunnel will be located in Kasimpasa, and the other will be located in Unkapani. Exit points of the tunnel, which will serve for two directions, will be connected to alternative roads via roundabouts. Mayor Kadir Topbas has announced that Persembe Pazari and Sokullu Mehmet Pasa Mosque areas will be revisioned after the project will be put into practice.
