TOKI announced that will give priority to İstanbul’s urban transformation in 2017. For this purpose, 15 thousands houses will be transformed in 13 districts of İstanbul. TOKİ’s President Ergün Turan explained 2017 projects. According to Turan, in 2017 TOKI aims to continue urban transformation with new projects. In 2017, 65,000 houses will be built and 15,000 of them will be built in Istanbul. 40% of TOKI’s 2017 projects will be urban transformation projects.
The 13 Districts of Istanbul are Uskudar, Beyoglu, Atasehir, Basaksehir, Gaziosmanpasa, Avcilar, Bagcilar, Esenler, Gungoren, Kucukcekmece, Kagithane, Maltepe, Zeytinburnu. In this districts TOKI’s projects has started. In Gungoren and Tozkoparan 5500 houses will be reconstructed and 7000 houses will be built in the area. Citizens who live in there will not pay for the new houses.
In addition, Sutluce Ornektepe Neighborhood Urban Transformation Projects will be put in a tender in 12th of January. In order to save the Halic’s silhouette, TOKI place a particular importance on the Sutluce Project. Sutluce Project will be two phased.
Besides, 5000 houses will be put up for sale for the people who live out of the zoning areas with the affordable prices. And social facilities will be built in zoning areas.
Moreover, industrial zones will be transferred out of the city. TOKI will construct new modern industrial zones. For instance, Rami Wholesale Market Area will be reconstructed in Kayabasi. The construction of the wholesale market area will start in new year and will be finished in 2 years. There will be about 990 workplaces and 120 shops in 320,000 square meters area. And social facilities will be built in the old wholesale area.
