Anadolu Efes’ beer factory in Istanbul, production is halting on May 22nd. The beer factory in Merter, which is one of the precious districts of Istanbul, is expected to be used by the group for real estate investments.
Some of the factories in Istanbul are closing down. Lately, Anadolu Efes announced that it will stop its production operations at the beer factory located in Merter, Istanbul, on May 22nd. In order to stop the production at the plant in Merter, it was stated as a reason that the facility was located in the city over time. The production will be shifted to other facilities in Ankara, İzmir and Adana.
In a statement from Anadolu Efes to the KAP, it was stated that the decision was made by taking into consideration the environmental and logistical effects of the beer factory in city center on the people of the region.
Anadolu Efes stopping the production in the giant factory, brought to the minds that the real estate investments of the group. The company stated that the evaluations on the area of the factory were ongoing but the eyes turned to AND Real Estate in the group. AND previously carried out the project on Anadolu Motor's old factory site in Kartal at 45 thousand square meters. It is expected that the land in Merter will be evaluated either by the group company or in a different way in the field of real estate.
The boss of Anadolu Holding Tuncay Özilhan said in 2012 that "the land in Merter is not on the agenda now, but after a few years we want to work to evaluate the site."
