Turkey’s fourth throat pass The 1915 Bridge of Çanakkale is nearing the groundbreaking ceremony on March 18th, and the names to be participated in the construction contract are becoming clear. At least 5 firms will compete for the tender to be held on January 26.
South Korea, Japan, China, Italy, United Arab Emirates Want To Bosphorus Bridge
Two sources talking to Bloomberg said that Itochu, Japan’s second largest trading company, and IHI Corporation, a Japanese firm operating in machinery manufacturing for steel bridges and various heavy industries, will enter the tender together with Nurol Holding and Makyol Construction. According to the information provided by the other three sources, Hyundai is planning to submit proposals with Italian construction companies Astaldi, İçtaş and Kalyon Construction. Astaldi is also one of the contractors of the Istanbul-Izmir highway with a value of 7.5 billion dollar. In addition, the Chinese construction giant Sichuan Road and Bridge Co., SK Engineering in the United Arab Emirates and South Korea Daelim Industrial Co. will be included in the tender.
100 Million Turkish Liras For Join The Tender
Under the terms of the tender, the groups have to commit 100 million Turkish Liras (27 million dollar) to participate in the tender. The procurement date may be postponed to collect other companies’ claims.
Çanakkale 1915 Bridge is a part of the 352 km highway project that will start from Kınalı Village connected to Silivir county in the south of Istanbul and will pass through Tekirdağ and Çanakkale and end in Savaştepe district of Balıkesir.
